If you’re considering embarking on the journey to embrace your natural hair texture, you are about to make a game changing decision! We can’t wait to have you join our community.
Returning to your natural texture is definitely a rewarding journey, however commitment and patience are required.
The first phase requires a gradual stretch of your chemical straightening treatment. This can last anywhere from 3-9 months.
Keys to getting through this phase: decrease heat usage, reduce excessive combing, brushing and manipulation when styling.
The next likely phase is shedding whilst your new growth and natural texture emerges.
Shedding tends to occur in phases and may coincide with the time in which you would typically go for your chemical straightening treatment but don't be alarmed!
The good news is shedding does subside but tangling and breakage may persist as your new natural texture comes through. The best approach is to wait it out whilst maintaining a solid healthy hair regimen.
Shedding is completely normal and occasionally we can enter phases of heavy shedding due to hormonal fluctuations and environmental changes.
Detangling and conditioning should be a key focus during this phase.
Use a detangler that contains hydrating ingredients that provide alot of slip to help minimise tension caused when detangling.
Condition regularly during this phase, this will increase manageability and build strength back into your strands.
